Colds and Flu are caused by viruses and can not be cured. There are a number of proactive ways that can be taken by an individual to help prevent the spread of colds and Flu.

Statistical studies show the following:
About 50 million individuals get colds each year and the same numbers of people get the flu. Every year in the United States there are about 200,000 hospitalization and 36,000 deaths due to the flu or its complications. Currently the flu vaccine has a 90% success rate in preventing the flu.

General Tips
  •  Wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with warm water and soap and wash them often. Most cold and flu viruses are spread by direct contact
Use a hand sanitizer if no water is available
  •  Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue and not your hands when you are sneezing, avoid touching your face.
  •  Put your toothbrush in the microwave periodically on high for approximately 10 seconds to kill germs that live on your toothbrush.
  •  Don’t blame yourself when things don’t go well at work. Studies have found that workers who blamed themselves tended to get more colds
  •  Take vitamin C ,E, garlic on a daily basis
  •  Eat yogurt regularly
  •  Indulge yourself in a sauna
  •  Do aerobic exercises
  •  Quit Smoking
  •  Limit alcohol intake
  •  Ask you health care provider about receiving an annual flu vaccine
